This remarkable area of France has plenty to see and do. The Camargue with its white horses and flamingos is an area that attracts many visitors and is flat enough for a leisurely cycle tour.
There are Roman remains and artifacts in places like Arles and the Aqueduct, Pont du Garde. Visit the magnificent Palace of the Popes at Avignon to see and hear something of the church down the centuries.
Visit Les Baux de Provence and the Cathedrale d'Images to see an incredible slide show (which changes each year) in an old underground limestone quarry. For 2009 it is paying homage to Pablo Picasso. For more detail go to http://www.cathedrale-images.com/.
